Bobby and Amanda
"It was August 2009, we were in Canada at Niagara Falls. There’s a big ferris wheel there, and Bobby proposed while we were at the top. Very romantic!"
"For the venue, we searched all over Raleigh, we knew we wanted to stay local and not have our guests travel far from the church to the reception hall. We were married at the church I went to as a child, where my mom is still a very active member. The reception hall is only a mile or so away and we loved the big open bar in the reception hall, along with the hard wood floors and patio seating. My cake was simple and elegant, made by Ashley Cakes."
"For the theme, we are not big "theme" people so we wanted something classic and simple. We went with the colors of navy blue and ivory. We kept everything relatively traditional - light, pretty, classy - it was spring in North Carolina so the weather was perfect all day. 72 degrees fahrenheit and sunny!"
"I had a bridesmaid brunch with my girls in the morning, and then got ready at my parents house. My dress was a Maggie Sottero design with lace detail from The Bridal Boutique. My friend Blair Waldo did my makeup and another friend did my hair. I wore my mother’s wedding veil that she wore at her wedding to my dad in 1977, my something old. ”
"The ceremony was at 5:30pm on a Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Raleigh NC. The ceremony was very traditional, and lasted for about 20 minutes."
"Afterwards, we had our reception at Newton Square in Raleigh NC. We had a cocktail reception and then dinner, catered by 9 Lyvz Catering. They were great to work with, and the dinner was delicious!"
"Our florist was Elisa Gabrielli, she was fabulous to work with and the flowers looked beautiful! The favours for each guest were personalized shot glasses that read "Bobby and Amanda are taking a shot at marriage!", very appropriate as Bobby and I met while working as bartenders at a local pub."
"We had a "cookie table" which is actually a western Pennsylvani/Ohio tradition. Guests were able to eat yummy homemade cookies after the dinner, and we also provided goodie bags for them to take cookies home."
"After dinner, we partied the night away. We had a surprise visit from Stormy, the mascot for our NHL team the Carolina Hurricanes! One of our wedding guests is actually employed as the mascot, and he happened to have the costume in his car. Half way through the reception, someone talked him into putting on the costume and dancing with our guests!"
