Radiant Love at Helen and Mark's Springtime Essex Wedding
We’ve got a gorgeous real wedding to share with you today guys – and one that’s fresh, too! Helen and Mark got married in on the 6th April in a beautiful setting in Chelmsford – and the weather came out for them. The couple looked radiant, and we think the sun wanted to match! Fittingly for the fair weather, Stéphanie from Fairweather Photography submitted this stunning day and we’re so grateful she did – according to her, Helen and Mark were a pleasure to photograph, and we think that all together they’re a match made in heaven.
There are some absolutely breathtaking photos of Helen and her five bridesmaids getting ready, a serene vision of calm and cool in front of a big bay window. With champagne and the all-important slippers on, Helen’s bride tribe got ready with the help of the super talented Knot Your Average Bride, Leanne Marie Make-Up and Beauty, and Claire Louise Hair. After hair and make-up, the bridesmaids changed out of matching Team Bride pyjamas into gorgeous navy dresses from ASOS, which all came with a personalised clothes hanger with their name painted on. Helen’s dress, from The Wedding Shop in Colchester, had a beautiful sweetheart bodice and high-necked lace overlay with v-neck back detail. Their bouquets are all beautiful, an arrangement of cream roses, lavender springs and gypsophilia with some ascending foliage. They were made by a family friend, which is an amazing theme of the day with this wedding – the florist, cake, stationery, and table decorations were all made by family or friends, which makes them all the more special!
Mark and his crew looked totally dapper too, with Mark wearing a navy suit from Ted Baker, and his best men wearing Next 3-pieces in a complimentary blue. We adore the group shots of them outside – they look like they’re having a ball. They've got their game faces ON, and we want in on the fun!!
St Mary’s Church looked resplendent in the sun, handily lending itself to some beautiful shots in the crisp light – we especially love the image of Helen through the window of the car, the ethereal kissing shot of her and Mark underneath her billowing veil, and the close-up where the sun is shining right through the gap in their embrace—it looks like something out of a dreamy movie!
However the church was just the precursor for what was to come. The reception was held at Houchins, an impressive Grade 2 listed farmhouse in Colchester, and the décor did not disappoint. Helen and Mark had thought of the most wonderful, personalised touches for the reception—their table plan was a giant map, with each table denoted by a place of special importance, which sat alongside some vintage suitcases and signage that we’re totally lusting after, by the way! The table names were giant Polaroid-style photos of Helen and Mark in each of these places, blown-up and placed in frames, which rested against table centrepieces that were nothing short of structural floral masterpieces, lending a great level of height to the tablescape. Guests were wowed with wooden favour boxes filled with surprises, and their names were beautifully handlettered on heart-stamped luggage tags and affixed to napkins with sprigs of lavender. The ceiling was adorned with paper lanterns in white, interspersed with bright and deep pops of colour thanks to accompanying blue and purple lanterns. Also, spot the light up LOVE letters and the fact that these were a running theme – they’re also in the photos of Helen getting ready. Ooooh, we love a bit of continuity (if this was a film, that’d be an IMDB trivia fact, right there). There was a fairy light wall and a sweet table too – they literally thought of everything!
And thought of everything they did, because on the lawn outside they had OUTDOOR GAMES (I’ve capitalised this to accurately express just how brilliant I think this is, make no mistake). There was Connect4, there were footballs, there were lawn games, and there were giant hats for the youngest members of the party to get lost in and look totally adorable in – what’s not to love?!
Thanks so much to Fairweather Photography for this submission – the day looks like a beautiful outpouring of love from start to finish and a bloody good party too, whilst the photos are radiant. We love all the handmade details, and wish Helen and Mark every happiness together!
