Elegant, Flexible and Truly Intimate Wedding Venue

Elegant, Flexible and Truly Intimate Wedding Venue

Unfortunately, it’s a well-acknowledged fact that finding a wedding venue can be so much hard work. A lot of people will say that they ‘just knew’ as soon as they stepped into a venue, immediately falling head over heels for the place and instantaneously being rendered unable to envision themselves celebrating anywhere else. That’s all fine and dandy, but it doesn’t happen to everyone – and even if it does, how do you know which venues to visit to chase this feeling? Nowadays there are more venues than you can shake a glue-gunned and macraméd stick at; enough to cater for all different styles and themes.

A great pointer as to whether the venue will be a good host for your big day is seeing it in situ. A lot of venues offer for couples to have a sneak peek during the preparations for someone else’s event – whilst this is great, sometimes it feels a bit sneak-you-up-the-backstairs, like you’ve got something to hide. You want to be able to really go round the space and get properly into it without feeling you’re playing the main part in somebody else’s big day. To get around this, open days are a great way forward – seeing the space in a set-up that really could be your own (rather than it being definitely, firmly someone else’s). They’re also a fabulous method of getting to know the team behind a venue, as they’re crucial to the feel of your big day too. Even if you’re dry-hiring a blank space, having owners or managers who make the process pleasant and stress-free can make the world of difference to how relaxed and confident you feel.

We’re especially lucky in Yorkshire to have an overwhelming multitude of grand spaces, particularly heritage sites and buildings of historical grandeur. But what if you're looking for something just a little bit different? What if you're wanting history, elegance and the 'wow' factor, coupled with a homely, welcoming feel? Does such a venue exist?

Enter Riverside Events, at Tanfield House. The gorgeous period house, set in Ripon, is an idyllic setting on the bank of the River Ure for a beautiful wedding celebration or a fully licensed civil ceremony inside and riverside too. Hire of the venue boasts exclusive use of the grounds for two days, including the riverside garden marquee area as well as the house, which is full of sumptuous charm (just LOOK at that staircase!). It can sleep up to 7, with additional accommodation a stone’s throw away in the village itself, and can house up to 40 people for beautiful private dining with the option to add a marquee. Add onto this a low corkage fee and you have some marital magic.

Tanfield House and the Riverside Events team are proud to provide an exclusive experience that they call the ‘at home’ celebration: a comfortable, stress-free environment, drawing on the finest surroundings and suppliers to provide the perfect structure for a day completely tailored to you. Feel completely relaxed in their hands (and their grounds) and have your day, your way. Come and see Neil and Alannah at their open Day on Saturday 22nd April between 10am-4pm – the admission is free, the venue is gorgeous, and the dreams are coming true.

Tanfield House guarantees you something a little different - your day, your way!
