Natural and Rustic Meols Hall Wedding: Emma & Danny

Meols Hall Wedding Rustic

From Mexico to Meols Hall, today's real wedding inspiration is out of this world. From the moment this submission landed in our inbox, we had a very good feeling about it, as the couple exude happiness and excitement. Sarah Maria's photos are stunning, showcasing the dreamy day with great attention to the finer details and using the light gorgeously.

From day one, Emma and Danny wanted their wedding to be all about the natural: natural, rustic styling and natural enjoyment and feelings. Naturally, they smashed it!

Over to you, Emma...

"On our 10 year anniversary Danny proposed to me in Riviara Maya Mexico. Unbeknownst to me, he had previously been emailing the hotel to set up a dinner for two at the end of a jetty, which is where he got down on one knee and proposed with my Nan's ring - my Nan was my best friend who we lost 4 years previously. Obviously I was completely over the moon and although in total shock said yes immediately! Much to our Mums' disappointment, we didn't get planning straight away, but we decided to have one more year of no responsibility, and went to Vegas instead (and loved it.) We set our wedding date as exactly 13 years after getting together.

I've always loved the rustic look, so Meols Hall was the perfect option. It's not only local, but also definitely has the wow factor - I just remember thinking we wouldn't even have to decorate it as I loved everything already!

Of course, though, we did get decorating. I wanted everything as natural as possible, so we had our family and friends save jam jars and had many a craft day with my mum and friends sticking lace and hessian to them. My brother cut logs up for us in his garden for the table centre pieces and we made the invites and menus ourselves. We loved every minute, always making it fun and having a laugh as we worked!

My mum also made my dress for me from scratch.  She is an amazing at making clothes and curtains but has never made a wedding dress before! After a couple of disappointing dress shopping trips, we decided that it was the only way I'd get my perfect dress. She suggested it as her great grandma had made her gran's, and she in turn had made my gran's (my mum's mum's). We designed it together, the two of us drawing back and forth, and I would send her pictures of things I liked. Then she made me one out of curtain lining and I knew from then on I was going to love it! She was so clever, patient and calm the whole way through, so we really did have the best time and enjoy every minute of it. We went to pick out the fabric from Darwin Mill which was really good fun as we had no idea what we were going for but came out all excited and pleased with the choice. Many fittings later, it was finished by Easter and my poor mum could breathe again! I was in love and couldn't wait to show off her talent!

My superhero mum also helped with the bridesmaids' dresses. I was determined not to go down the cheesy old fashioned bridesmaids dress route so when one of the bridesmaids spotted their eventual dresses on ASOS, I was thrilled! They came in 3 colours and I liked them all so let them pick! My mum altered them all (practically re-making my 11 year old neices) and I think they looked amazing. Our flowergirl and niece had hers made by Danny's mum's friend. Ange, having all boys, was thrilled to be able to get her granddaughter a dress made and it was gorgeous!

My mum made the cake too - absolute genius! I pretty much left her to it as I knew she knew what she was doing - I just said I liked the fresh flowers look and hey presto, it was absolutely perfect, and beautifully finished by a log that my stepdad cut to use as a cake stand.

I am a hairdresser myself and work with my best friends at Reece Birkdale so it was a natural decision to host everyone at our salon that morning! I had loose waves in my hair, whilst my bridesmaids had soft boho updos into which we popped some gypsophila. Special thanks go to Liam for closing the whole day to get us pampered before they came to join us at the church! Becca, who owns SASS Style Studio in Crosby, had the hard task of doing 8 faces of makeup in only a few hours - and she did it amazingly. We opted for smokey eyes and a nude lip and it looked stunning.

Being a hairdresser also came in useful when it came to transport, as one of my favourite clients' husbands runs a wedding car business. They helped guide me on which to pick and I loved them, as they were so helpful and made everything so straight-forward! Even my Dad, a massive classic car fan, was so impressed with them so that's good enough for me!

At the reception, the speeches went better than we could have dreamt and the food seemed to go down as well as we hoped after a fab food tasting session back in June. Everybody seemed as happy and relaxed as we were, and we loved the fact the dance floor was constantly full - all down to the Essentials. We spent an afternoon acting like Simon Cowell trawling the internet, and were thrilled when we came across them as they were SO fab. They were really helpful and good at communicating, and put on the best show so we couldn't stop dancing even if we'd have wanted to (which we didn't...)

The wedding day was honestly perfect from start to finish! Having all our loved ones in one place is nearly impossible as they live all over the world, but it all came together fabulously: an all round fantastic day thats left us feeling so loved its unreal!
