Gareth & Vicky
On a holiday to Tuscany Gareth and Vicky stayed at the beautiful Poggio Piglia hotel - they fell in love with the simplistic beauty surrounding the villa and beyond. On their last day at this boutique hotel Gareth took Vicky for an early morning walk to watch the sunrise over the olive groves - it was here that he proposed and after many tears (happy ones) and a very excited 'yes' they were engaged!
A few hours later, after a strong coffee for Vicky and a couple of phone calls to friends and family they put the deposit down for their wedding a year later at the exact same Villa knowing that no where else would compare.
A month later, Vicky and her Sister had taken their Mum on a surprise trip to Paris for her birthday - they had stumbled across a bridal shop and decided to go in for a look - Vicky left Paris with her dream dress purchase, a beautiful mermaid style Monique Lhuillier.
Just a year later they stood at the entrance to this beautiful Villa and greeted each and every one of their closest friends and family; from 3 month old baby Alfie to 86 year old Grandpa 'Pamps'. The wedding lived up to every dream imaginable.
Being a stationery addict and perfectionist, Vicky was in her element and refused to hire a wedding planner to help with any aspect of the wedding, she had a vision and stuck to it all the way through. Vicky spent hours designing and hand drawing their save the dates, wedding invitations and more. She took a calligraphy course for the place cards and spent evenings and weekends bringing her ideas to life.
The inspiration behind the styling of the wedding was simply the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Poggio Piglia is a truly stunning venue that incorporates the beauty of the natural surroundings. The light in Tuscany really does live up to it's name and is unlike anywhere else. This light coupled with the outstanding beauty of the landscape really doesn't need much help to shine!
The main aim for the wedding weekend was for a relaxed and happy event. The wedding day itself began with all the guests in the infinity pool until lunchtime including the bride! The previous day had included celebration drinks for all the guests and an 8 course rehearsal dinner twinned with the grooms sister's 30th birthday - making the whole weekend even more memorable. The groom had organised the last day to be a pool party and bbq to top it all off, the sun came out and everyone had sat until the early hours of the morning making memories.
The day itself felt like a dream to both Vicky and Gareth. Despite it raining during the ceremony and later developing into a storm they were blessed with a rainbow, a range of beautiful skies throughout the day and memories to last a lifetime. The rain changed their plans at the last minute to eat outside but instead they were gifted such an intimate dinner in the huge glass dining room of Poggio Piglia with candles lit as the sun set creating a magical glow. They danced the night away and eventually went to bed at 4am as the sun was just coming up.
