Helen and Justin's Explosion of Colour And Cheer

Helen and Justin's Explosion of Colour And Cheer

Well, where do I even begin with today's wedding? Fittingly, Helen mentions below the collective sharp intake of breath that happened as she walked into the room; the same kind of noise I imagine as the one I made when the photos for this spectacular day came through. Her overview of the day was just a list of incredible details and effortless moments that created a perfect wedding day (you can read that below!) An explosion of colour, happiness and ultimately love, Helen and Justin's day is an absolute dream, and I cannot WAIT to show you!

Helen and Justin's wedding was a perfect mix of everything that's important to them: as Justin loves Cricket, Meat Loaf (the artist), physics, Lego and a cuppa, and Helen loves books, reading, sunflowers, a cuppa, and anything colourful, they used this as basis. To pay homage to Justin's cricketing love, the wedding was held at a Shenley Cricket Club, they had afternoon tea and they actually played a game of cricket on the day - a game in which Helen went to hit a run and then completely slipped over at the wicket due to the rained on pitch! Proof of how perfect the day was that though her legs were left looking slightly bedraggled, the dress flew up and stayed pristine - big up Edith & Winston bridal wear for supplying a magic dress!

To incorporate their love of teaching and literature, they had a stunning colour book arch - the perfect photo backdrop - readings from Shakespeare and the world of Science, and table names dedicated to writers and scientists. Their love of a good cup of tea was represented with teacups filled with flowers alongside leather-bound volumes as table decoration - oh, and did we mention the vows were adapted Meat Loaf vows?

In homage to Justin and Helen, grab a cup of their much-loved tea, get settled and comfortable, and prepare yourself for this incoming wedding: it's nothing short of bloody spectacular.

"Our wedding was at Shenley Cricket Club (Hertfordshire) and was an explosion of colour complete with: a hint of vintage; a sparkly Crown and Glory Bow birdcage veil, blue suede Christian Louboutin shoes and a bright red Cambridge Satchel handbag to accessorise my tea length princess dress; lots of books and a beautiful multicoloured book arch (which later became our photo booth!); Lego, including a Lego mad scientist buttonhole for the groom and a card box and cake topper that we made the week before on a lazy Sunday at home before the madness of the last week began; an Indiana Jones hat for the groom; a Cricket match that we and our guests took part in; delicious Afternoon tea and a cake off bake off where both of our mums, family and friends baked delicious treats to go with our sweet cart; Meat Loaf vows and first dance; homemade bits and bobs, that I thoroughly enjoyed making - despite the glue gun injuries two weeks before the big day, eek - of confetti cones made from book pages and colour confetti, large crepe paper flowers for each of the flower girls!; the teacher in both Justin and I, lead to Justin creating starter activities to keep our guests busy at the wedding breakfast and they especially loved the personalisation of them; and best of all saying "I do" after almost 17 years together!

We bought my wedding ring in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter as that's where we both went to University and was my second home for 10 years - so it had a special place in our hearts. .

I remember the huge intake of breath from people as soon as I entered the room, which my mum loves remembering - she knew I had arrived before she even saw me. We had our very own ring bear (little teddy dog) that was one of the first gifts we shared. Justin fist bumped everyone as we both walked back down the aisle to Katrina and the Waves 'Walking on Sunshine'. That day we were most certainly walking on sunshine even if the rain stopped play at times. The best, most magical day of our lives.

Thanks to Team Justin: Hidekazu, Shoop, Jonathan, Simon, Paul, Mark and Colin, and Team Helen: Charlene, Robyn, Bobbie, Hollie. Flower girls: Faye, Eve, Sophie and Mei!"
