How To Organise The World’s Best Hen Party (Or Wedding, Or Honeymoon) Stress-Free
If you’re tasked with organising a hen party, we salute you. Although it’s loads of fun that we wouldn’t miss for the world, it’s bloomin’ hard work too. Behind the sashes and instagrams and cocktails and glitter is an operation that requires indepth cross-country logistics to get everyone in the same place, earnest time management to get everyone there at the same time, budgeting skills to make sure everyone can join in the fun, and people skills to keep everyone sweet. On top of that, hen parties have taken on a whole new character nowadays, with everyone striving for a more unique, inimitable experience for their celebration, so you’ve got to don a creative thinking cap too.
When laid out like this, it can seem über daunting, but DO NOT FRET. We’re so ecstatic (genuinely, that is not hyperbole) to say we’ve discovered the solution to all your hen-party-planning problems and more. We’ve got a way to make it easy, efficient, and even enjoyable (shocking, I know!). Let us present to you: Patchwork.
Patchwork have taken a simple idea, and made it huge. Essentially, Patchwork is an online platform where you can collect money, time, and skills, to a specific project – aka, a hen party—and make something amazing happen. It’s the classic idea of a whip-round, but all in one safe and efficient place, meaning you don’t need to keep track of anything as it’s all kept track of for you. It also means no dodgy money dealings in brown paper envelopes, because it’s all online. It’s super user-friendly too, so no matter who your hens are, they’ll be able to collaborate and join in. Your hen party has it’s own specific patchwork with a shareable URL, where you can input everything that’s needed: whether this is items or experiences that need to be bought at a specific price, or goals that need to be actioned. Then, your fellow hens can log onto that specific patchwork, and set about ticking the items off! There are loads of example patchworks on the website to give you ideas about the kind of things you can weave into yours too – we especially love the Dirty Dancing Themed Hen Do, where you can pledge everything from ‘making’ the welcome sign to ‘doing’ the act of carrying a watermelon. It’s a perfect way to keep everyone on track and up to date with plans and to keep everything in one place so there’s no confusion. This means it’s the perfect way to organise a hen party with no stress. You. Are. Welcome.
It’s not just hen parties, either. Liv & Laurie set Patchwork up to act as their wedding gift list – as they had been together for ten years with two children by the time they got married, the usual gravy boats weren’t quite going to cut the mustard (or the gravy). Instead, they were asking for people to put towards their dream holiday in Cuba. Patchwork presents ‘honeymoon fund’ patchworks, tailored towards honeymoons in all sorts of places – from Cuba to Croatia with a stop off at Cornwall in between. Everything from contributions to flights to the pennies for a pastry break in a quaint coffee house can be factored into your patchwork: the world literally is your oyster. Or, if you don’t want gravyboats but you don’t fancy a trip either, why not use your Patchwork to invite contributions to a particular project? A new kitchen, maybe, with a perfect black glitter splashback, or the start of your own allotment. As long as it’s legal, you can patchwork it.
We could extol the virtues of Patchwork all day, we really could. It caters for secret collections, as the patchwork doesn’t appear in google searches and won’t be shared by Patchwork unless you explicitly authorise it first. There’s no limit on make and do patchworks—if you’re not collecting any money, then there is no limit and no charge for your patchwork, simple as. It all works through Paypal, minimising difficulties and meaning global friends can get in on the fun too. On top of that, we got the chance to chat to the team when they exhibited at the Most Curious Wedding Fair in London too, and we can definitely confirm that they’re uber nice people who genuinely care about your event. Their passion was infectious, so your event is definitely in the right hands.
So, get those hands on your keyboard and get setting up your Patchwork. We can’t wait to see what you decide to do with it and how you decide to use it!
