Lace & Co Bridal Boutique
Today we have an exclusive interview the very fabulous Heidi Waring, the lady behind Lace & Co Bridal Boutique.
Heidi, tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
'I set up exclusive Bridal Boutique, Lace & Co. in Yorkshire in 2013 following years of dreaming about having my own boutique filled with stunning, beautiful, elegant wedding dresses. When I was young I was lucky enough to live in Africa and I then travelled and worked in various different cities across the world, including Lyon, St.Etienne and London but when I met my husband and decided to settle down, it was Yorkshire I wanted to call home. I now live in a really pretty village where the bridal boutique is located and I couldn't be more blissfully content. I still get to meet lots of people from all over the world as we have brides of all nationalities to who come to see us and I adore seeing their wedding photos in places as far afield as Australia, Canada and New Zealand and of course the Yorkshire Dales!'
How was Lace and Co created?
'I guess I am an incurable romantic at heart. I love anything related to weddings but there is something particularly special about wedding gowns, the different styles and colours, the inspiration from different eras. When I got married almost 10 years ago, we had a bohemian style wedding which was probably quite ahead of the trend. After getting married in a beautiful old ruin in the Yorkshire Dales, We had around 90 people at our wedding reception on a campsite...and yes I wore wellies! It was a perfect day but boho style wedding dresses didn't really exist then so I had to wear quite a traditional dress. I decided when I opened the boutique that I wanted to cater for brides like me who didn't want to follow trends but who wanted to wear a beautiful unique dress to match their own personalities, whether it be a slinky and elegant 20s style gown, a lace and chiffon floaty, romantic boho style dress or a bubbly and quirky 50s inspired tea-length dress.'
What makes Lace and Co different to other bridal boutiques?
'We specialise in vintage and bohemian inspired wedding dresses for free-spirited brides. Everyone in the team absolutely loves what we do so we are passionate about the boutique and our brides and making sure that everything is perfect for them, from the very first consultation to choosing the dress, their bridal fittings and finally their special day. We like to treat our brides like close friends and spend time getting to know them and the styles they like so we know what dresses will best match their unique personalities. It is always really emotional when our brides collect their dress for the final time and I always think about them on the day and hope they are having a wonderful time.'
What do you most enjoy about your job?
'It is simple, making bride's happy! It's not about numbers or sales, it is about making sure that a bride has the biggest smile on her face when she tried on her dress. My absolute favourite part of the job is getting a wonderful photo and a lovely comment from a bride after her wedding that her day went perfectly and she loved her dress. I usually dance around my kitchen in a very silly fashion when I get a nice email from a bride and I know it was a perfect day for her!'
You've recently relocated to a larger premises and increased the amount of bridal gowns you have on sale. Can you give us details of the newest collections you've added?
'Oh yes we are so excited. Although we loved our previous boutique we had totally outgrown it and our new boutique is so lovely and light and pretty and it has so much room for brides and new collections. We originally held collections of 1950s inspired tea-length dresses in over 80 different colours by House of Mooshki and beautiful traditional French lace dresses by award winning Designer Charlotte Balbier. We are now also exclusive stockists of bohemian style collections by Claire Pettibone and Rembo Styling. Watch this space for more news though as we are about to take a road trip to speak to a new coveted Designer who would like us to be their exclusive stockist for the whole of Yorkshire, their dresses are absolutely incredible!'
What does the future hold for Lace and Co?
'The future is looking really exciting for Lace & Co. As well as our new boutique and some amazing new collections we are always developing our services for brides. I really want Lace & Co. to always be one step ahead of the trends, very much like our fabulous brides...so watch this space for all our wonderful plans and we look forward to seeing you in the new boutique very soon!'
