Meet Our New Intern - Ellie
Hi, I’m Ellie. When not at university in London studying Philosophy (an interesting decision) or at work in a bra shop (a much better decision), I’m at home in a village just outside Hull, drinking copious amounts of tea and crying at weddings. The intention as soon as possible is to be able to amend that introduction to say ‘at home with my sausage dog’ – but I’m working on the whole allergies thing currently. I have peach coloured hair, and more often than not I’m wearing glitter! Since I was a little girl, my goal has been to become a wedding planner - why wouldn’t you want to be part of the best day in someone's life. Organising school proms and balls didn’t put me off in the slightest, so I’ve moved on to being an intern at this lovely blog – the perfect way to start.
I try and spend as little of my time as possible on Philosophy, and focus on the more important things: food and fun. It’ll soon become clear that if there are three things I love, it’s weddings, getting crafty, and gift-giving! I love trying out craft projects firsthand; this year I’ve tried to focus on my handlettering, but have also made heart-shaped teabags, tassel cushions, and little Dr Who themed marshmallows. I also love to bake and am completely swept up in the meringue craze at the moment. The day I perfect my macarons will be the day I’ll be a content gal.
I also co-own a monthly subscription service where we send DIY craft projects straight through the postbox, with all the instructions and materials needed, for ladies and gents who want to do something creative but maybe don’t have the time to get the materials, or don’t know where to start looking. I firmly believe that the way to anyone’s heart is a present through the post. It’s amazing to curate these boxes from start to finish, from the time spent online researching the perfect project, to liaising with other small business to see how we can help them. The sense of pride in every finished box is unparalleled.
I’m overwhelmed on a daily basis by the creativity and ingenuity of brides and grooms. Everything from your colour scheme to flowers to entertainment to venue can be made personal and it’s my favourite part of my job to see what couples create.
I’m thrilled to join the ASTW team, and honoured to be among such amazing and talented contributors. Hopefully I’ll be able to brighten up your newsfeeds with something special that piques your interest!
