Rachel & Ian - An Elegant Yorkshire Wedding
Did we mention we love a wedding?! The elegant couple, Rachel and Ian, featured on today's blog post, know how to nail that simple, chic and modern look. Captured by the wonderful Joanne Jacobs, the photography is fresh and romantic. You'd easily mistake the Marsden Moors of wild Yorkshire for a sweeping Californian highway. The lighting is incredible! This with the classic car, and the classy couple equals a recipe for the dream couple shots. Total wall gracing worthy!
Rachel and Ian's wedding day looked to have the perfect balance between been romantic, sentimental and then also a bit nuts and a mad time with family and friends!
We hear from Ian about his and Rachel's wedding day at Crow Hill. And a little glimpse into their love story too...
How did you meet?
We met at school I fancied Rachel and it took me 10 years to finally win her round.
What’s your engagement story?
I was working in Afghanistan at the time and when I was home over Rachel’s birthday weekend I took her to the Lake District and stayed in a boat house as Rachel loves open water. Over the weekend I had planned a few activities. Then the day before her birthday on the Sunday I laid rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed and in the middle of them I had bought Rachel a present which was a dress to wear. Whilst she was getting ready I cooked her favourite meal which is a roast dinner and we had champagne. Then I got her a pair of custom trainers with Mrs Rowly on the back and when she opened them I got down on one knee and asked.
How long were you engaged before you got married?
Just under 2 years
How did you decide on your venue?
I was working in Afghan, Rachel went to view numerous venues then after she’d been to Crowhill every time we talked about the wedding it was based on it being at Crowhill, so we booked it without me seeing it.
What Was The Inspiration Behind Your Styling?
Simple, crisp and elegant with a modern style
Tell us more about the dress?
The dress was from Blush boutique in uppermill. Designed by Maggie Sottero, the dress had a floor length veil. It had a mesh top with floral design which continued down the dress and the back.
What was the most important aspect to you for your wedding day?
The church ceremony.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Saying I do
What advice would you give to other couples planning their Indie Wedding Day?
It’s your day not anyone else’s, don’t get stressed, it’s easy if you don’t stress. Prepare yourself for how tired you will be the day after.
Thank you Ian and Rachel for sharing your day with us. It looked to be full of smiles, love and pure admiration for each other. Not to mention a good night!!
