Tie The Knot

Tie The Knot

Brown paper packages tied up with string may have been Maria’s favourite thing, but we much prefer a beautiful ceremony chair tied up with a chair sash (though admittedly it doesn’t fit as well into the rhythm of the song, so we’ll let Julie Andrews off.) Luckily for us, The Vintage Sash Company specialise in the most beautiful chair sashes to elevate your wedding style to the next level.

Chair sashes may seem like a lovely extra, but they’re actually a crucial styling detail for your wedding, whether it be the ceremony, the reception, or both. They draw the whole room into one, tying together every element you’ve worked so hard to get right. They’re also one of the very few things you can do to spruce up the actual seating area in your ceremony. On top of that, sashes can cover every style and theme, whether you’re going for dreamy Cath Kidston-esque whimsy or a more traditional elegance. Take this as a love letter to the humble chair sash: we love you for everything that you can do, and continue to do for us, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Elizabeth from Elizabeth Weddings also saw this potential when she took over The Vintage Sash Company earlier this year. As an established and wonderfully talented wedding stylist who had already been creating bespoke table runners for her couples for years, she expanded this into making chair sashes in a number of sumptuous hand-picked fabrics. With a background in textiles, this was a naturally perfect extension of her skills! Marking a departure from the well-hashed uniform organza or taffeta chair sashes we’ve all seen before, she offers a new and exciting option.

This is clear to see when you take a look at the fabrics available from The Vintage Sash Company, with an amazing array of different styles. Firstly, the set of sage green polka dot sashes look amazing on any chairs, and lock into the botanical theme dominating wedding trends at the moment. Consider a white and green colour scheme for your wedding and hire these sashes to finish off your decor perfectly.

Alternatively, the mismatched pastel collection sets our hearts aflutter and puts a spring in our step, taking us to sunnier, flower-filled times. You may recognise Elizabeth’s work from our Autumn edition of the magazine, where we showcased the stunning Alice In Wonderland themed photo shoot she curated. It was a heady, breath-taking shoot, focusing on the impossible beauty of the fairy tale. Amongst some stunning place settings, incredible cakes and stunning bridal style, the pale blue chair sashes finished the entire look.

We also adore the bold Liberty print collection too – an eclectic and beautifully vibrant set of colours, patterns and textures to really make your wedding pop with excitement. With mixed designs and bright colours they can transform the energy of a room. These are Elizabeth’s favourite sashes, and she recommends them as part of the mixed bunch collection.

As a wedding stylist extraordinaire, we asked Elizabeth for her ultimate wedding styling tip, and she suggested that it’s time to depart from chair covers. “Whether they’re Chiavari chairs, conference chairs or something else, sashes are so beautiful and bold that they look perfect on their own. Also, be bold – go for something different to others!”

The Vintage Sash Company are just tying the last things up on their website currently, but you can reach them on Facebook, to see the kind of fabrics they have available for your wedding!
